Buying a used Qashqai?
- Registered from April 2017: you pay the £200 standard rate. The first-year rate was already paid by the first owner.
- Registered 2014 – March 2017: it is taxed by CO2 band. Many economical versions from those years sit in the lower bands (A to D, £20–£170). Check the CO2 on the V5C and use the calculator’s “2001–2017” option.
- Tax never transfers with the car — tax it before you drive it home.
Ways to pay the £200
£200 in one go, £110 for six months, or £17.50 a month by Direct Debit (£210 a year).
Model figures (CO2, engine size, list price) come from the manufacturer’s own UK price list, as on the main calculator. Prices change often — check the current list price for your exact version.
And the running costs?
Car tax is a small part of what a car costs to run. Insurance, fuel and servicing usually matter more. For a company car the picture is different again: the 142 g/km mild hybrid would be taxed at 34% benefit-in-kind in 2026/27, while the 98 g/km e-POWER would be at 25%. Our company car tax calculator works that out for you if your Qashqai comes through work.
