What changed in April 2026
- No waiting days: SSP starts on the first qualifying day of sickness.
- No lower earnings limit: low earners now qualify, at 80% of earnings.
- Rate: the lower of £123.25 a week or 80% of average weekly earnings; maximum 28 weeks.

Do I get SSP for the first 3 days now?
Yes. From 6 April 2026 SSP is paid from day one.
