In the 41 states (including DC) that expanded Medicaid, adults aged 19–64 qualify with household income up to 138% of the federal poverty level. In non-expansion states adults without children usually cannot qualify on income alone. Children, pregnant women, seniors and people with disabilities have separate, often higher, limits. From the end of 2026, many expansion adults must show 80 hours a month of work, study or volunteering to keep coverage.
