How the calculator works
Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of each month and credited once a year, so depositing before 5 April earns interest for the whole year. The calculator assumes that, then adds interest yearly: balance = (previous balance + deposit) × 1.082. After year 15 there are no more deposits, but the account keeps earning interest until year 21.
Default example
₹1,50,000 a year (the maximum) from 2026: you deposit ₹22,50,000 over 15 years, and at 8.2% the account matures in 2047 at about ₹71,82,119 — about ₹49,32,119 of it tax-free interest.
A friendly caution
The rate is reviewed every quarter. It has been 8.2% since January 2024, but it was 7.6% in 2020–2022. Your account always earns the current rate, not the rate when you opened it, so the final figure will move.
